Music has always been in David’s life; his grandfather was a retired Navy Bandmaster, and military marches, symphonies, ethnic folk music, 60’s rock/pop music was always present. He attended several universities (CSULB, USC, Navy School of Music), receiving a music degree and a teaching credential.
Besides playing in jazz big bands and small groups in the L.A. region, David performed in pit and chamber orchestras, rock/pop bands, and West African music (Afrobeat). He was also a music educator and Army Band 1st. Sgt. His private flute teachers were James Newton, Louise DeTullio, and Dr. John Barcellona; his saxophone teacher was Louis Van Taylor.
